A new era for technical manuals

THE CHALLENGE

In the past, Mitsubishi was allocating the translation, editing and publishing of its owner’s manuals to three different agencies. They came to see us and asked to find a way to optimize and centralize the whole process for 10 different car models, and involving 18 different languages.

WHAT WE DID

We created a CMS based automated layout and translation tool that saves all known and already used translations in 18 languages.

HOW IT WORKS

When the tool finds a translation that has already been used and saved, it automatically displays it. This allows faster translations and safer

proofreading since only new elements of text will need “human” translation. Likewise, this new translation will also be automatically saved in the content database for future usage.

FROM PRINT TO DIGITAL

This project led the way to another challenge: the digitalization of the manuals. This task was undertaken at a later stage, but with the same success.
